Hawthorn Serving Spoon

This medium serving spoon is carved from hawthorn we harvested in Wisconsin. Its lines are inspired by a traditional Swedish design and it will function well with peas or potatoes. Hawthorn is a small tree and so is seldom or never seen in the lumber trade. Its wood is reminiscent of cherry, only darker in color and slightly harder - - no surprise since cherry and hawthorn are in the same botanical family. The tree is also known colloquially as thornapple.
